A look at Amazon’s brand-new grocery format which is set to launch in Los Angeles later this year drew in the biggest number of SmartBrief’s food-and-beverage readers this week. The store will feature many aspects of a traditional grocery store and won’t be set up with checkout-free features like the e-commerce giant’s Amazon Go stores, but it will boast an area for online order pickups and returns.

Also in grocery news, Wegmans and Publix once again made Fortune’s annual 100 Best Companies to Work For list. Both chains have made the list annually since it launched 23 years ago, and Nugget Markets has landed in the rankings for 15 years.

In restaurant news, a deal by BBQ Holdings, the parent of Famous Dave’s, to buy Granite City Food and Brewery out of bankruptcy caught readers’ eyes this week. Separately, Landry’s is set to acquire three of Granite City’s four Cadillac Ranch eateries.

An ad campaign by Burger King that promotes the chain’s pledge to eliminate preservatives and artificial ingredients from the Whopper in the US this year also made this week’s top 10. Commercials tout the freshness of the chain’s signature sandwich by watching it go from fresh to moldy in the space of about a month.

Several CPG stories were among the most-read this week, starting with a plan by Kraft Heinz to bump up ad spending by 30% this year, while cutting the number of advertising agency partners in half. Also popular – Oreo’s choice of Twitter to announce the upcoming launch of a cookie created in partnership with streetwear brand Supreme.
